Mindfulness - Why it can make you a better YOU!

Hey everyone! Okay so I am keeping this post is short and sweet in line with the theme!

Do you rush through your day? are you the kind of roll out of bed at the last minute and then leg it to work person? Do you know that when you rush through your day everyday, this means you end up rushing through you week, month, year and finally your whole life! We are all aware of how fast time goes even without rushing and yet we still do it! Do we want to be 80 and look back on our lives and think "God I wish I had taken more time to enjoy my life"

It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to notice much. Paying more attention to the present moment – to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you. But doing exactly this can improve your mental wellbeing.I used to be terrible, I was literally a "rusher" it actually cost me a few cars rushing to be somewhere or other!  but in the last few years I have completely slowed down I literally get up two hours early for work just so I can eat my breakfast and actually enjoy it. These days I am constantly trying to conquer the art of mindfulness.

Mark Williams, professor of clinical psychology at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, says that mindfulness means knowing directly what is going on inside and outside ourselves, moment by moment.
Professor Williams says that mindfulness can be an antidote to the "tunnel vision" that can develop in our daily lives, especially when we are busy, stressed or tired.

Here are 22 reasons to be mindful!

1. You simply feel better.
2. You experience life more fully.
3. You experience other people more fully.
4. Other people experience you more completely.
5. It’s easier to just ‘be yourself’.
6. It improves your golf swing.
7. You notice when things change, which is always.
8. You let things change instead of always holding on.
9. Smiling is easier, and you end up doing it more.
10. It relieves stress.
11. You are more confident about what to say, how to say it, and when.
12. Your senses are more clear and vivid.
13. You worry less about the future, and ruminate less on the past.
14. You feel less inclined to always ‘be in control’ and can more easily flow with situations.
15. You get more accomplished, and you feel better while your at it.
16. You spend less time managing your stress levels.
17. You expend less energy in blaming other people and the world, for your problems.
18. You spend less time managing your anger.
19. You spend less time visiting your doctor.
20. You spend less time glued to the television set and computer screen.
21. Other people like you more.
22. You like other people more.

Heres my favourite poem its somes up what I am saying in a nutshell...

Have you ever watched kids On a merry go-round?
Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.Don’t dance so fast.Time is short. The music won’t last.
Do you run through each day On the fly?
When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores Running through your head?
You better slow down Don’t dance so fast.Time is short. The music won’t last.
Ever told your child,We’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had timeTo call and say “hi”
You better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift …Thrown away.
Life is not a race. Do take it slower, Hear the music, Before the song’s over...
