Today I am going to discuss fear. Fear is described by Wikipedia as " an emotion induced by a threat perceived by living entities, which causes a change in brain and organ function and ultimately a change in behavior, such as running away, hiding or freezing from traumatic events. Fear may occur in response to a specific stimulus happening in the present, or to a future situation, which is perceived as risk to health or life, status, power, security, or, in the case of humans, wealth or anything held valuable."
It seems crazy to me that in todays society we are so fearful, but what I have discovered is that todays society is actually a breeding ground for fear. Now you may be reading this thinking I have no fears in life or that you are not scared of anything but I assure you I have yet to meet one human being on this earth who does does not suffer from at least one type of fear. There are different types of fear and I for one will hold my hand up and say I have felt them all as I am sure if you read on you will too. We can fear things that happen naturally in life such as death or losing friendships, or experience fear based on our egos's e.g. disapproval or rejection, we can also fear just not being able to handle what life throws at us. Well I am here to tell you that you have nothing to fear!

What if I told you that no matter what happens in your life you will be okay. That even if you partner who is your everything leaves you, you lose your job, all your money and you fall out with all your friends that you will be okay! That if your worst fear came through you would pick yourself back up and start again. Would you believe me? I am guessing probably not, because I wouldn’t have believed me either a few years ago either. So what has changed? I’ve come through situations I never thought I would be able to overcome, I have defeated fears that I never thought I would ever overcome and I have done it all by myself as I grew into an independent woman.
You can do the same, let me first of all tell you that the only way to get over a fear of something is to go out and do it!
This I have learned through experience from even the most minor fears my latest one was the simple fear of driving a jeep. So one day when I went on holidays last week I hired a jeep and drove up the steepest most dangerous road on the island, I may have nearly collapsed with nervousness before getting into the drivers seat but once I got into it and started driving I knew I was capable enough to handle it.
My initial thoughts when driving and this can be applied to any situation, were obviously of the worst things that could happen. I was thinking what happens if I crash?... then I thought I’m insured...but what will happen if I’m injured?... then I said to myself I will go to hospital until Im better...but what if I’m stuck in the country because of it?...well then I’m stuck in the country and I will just have to make the best of it. My worst thought was but what if I die?... my faith helped me out with this because I believe I will go on to a better place. But whether you have faith or not what do you actually have to be scared about. Nothing, absolutely nothing thats what!
The best thing is once you overcome one fear it gives you courage to defeat another. At the end of my holiday I jumped into the Indian Ocean to snorkel, I have a fear of open water because I very nearly drowned in a lake in New york but I put on a life jacket and jumped in
My life ethos is that there is always something positive to be gained from each situation and this has helped me overcome a lot of my fears although I still have a few more that I need to get rid off. So even if something bad does happen when you are overcoming your fear there is still something to be gained from it. Put yourself in the worst outcome that could possibly occur from you giving your fear the elbow, now think of all the possible good things you could gain from it there are always at least ten believe me not matter how bad the situation is if you dig deep enough you will find them.
Now that you know that you have nothing to lose just strap yourself in and start living your life freely forget about the fears you once had and if they try and could back take each situation think of the worst outcome and then think of at least ten positive things that could come from it.
So go on give fear the "moyen" finger (excuse my french! ;P) and just start living the life of your dreams!
I hope your inspired
